Abraham Lincoln (1809 – 1865)
A few years ago around Christmas time I watched ‘Gone with the wind’, set during the American Civil war when Lincoln was President. Issues surrounding slavery was a major cause of the war, a war that cost Lincoln his life; he was assassinated on 15 April 1865.
I researched both the war and the president, refreshing memories of history lessons. One of the images I came across is this portrait of Lincoln, a well-known image that seemed ideal to try out for my first trompe l’œil picture, something I had been thinking of doing for a while.
