Sometimes events come together. I was reading a book by Régine Deforges in which Che Guevara played a rather prominent role ("Cuba Libre"), when out of the blue I was contacted by a friend from the past, who used to see Che as his hero. Then when I came across that iconic image in a Sunday supplement I decided I had to try and capture him in patchwork.
I am aware that there's a massive gap between the man and flowery fabrics, perhaps the red border compensates slightly for this.
